Ireland Critical Skills Employment Permit: Salary & Eligibility (2026)
21 June 2026 · 4 min read
Ireland's Critical Skills Employment Permit (CSEP) is the fast track for in-demand skilled workers, no labour-market test, and a route to long-term residence. The salary you need depends on how you qualify.
The thresholds (from 1 March 2026)
- €40,904/year, for occupations on the Critical Skills Occupations List with a relevant degree.
- €36,848/year, for recent graduates (qualification obtained within the previous 12 months).
- €68,911/year, for eligible roles met via experience rather than a relevant degree.
These rose on 1 March 2026 (from €38,000 and €64,000) and are scheduled to keep rising in phases through 2030, so always check the figure for the current date.
Why the CSEP, not the General Employment Permit
The CSEP skips the labour-market needs test, grants immediate family reunification, and leads to a Stamp 4 (long-term residence) after two years. If your occupation and salary qualify, it's almost always the better route.
